Mumbai, Jan 1 – She is overwhelmed by the response to ‘3 Idiots’ and has no regrets about the size of her role in the hit comedy drama. Kareena Kapoor says she is happy to work with Aamir Khan and pleased by the compliments she has received for their pairing.

‘Everyone in one voice thinks we look good together. I think Aamir and I make a fantastic pair. I’d love to do another film with him immediately, this time I don’t want share him with other pivotal characters,’ Kareena told IANS.

Reacting to the opinion that she hardly has anything to do in ‘3 Idiots’, Kareena said: ‘Who says I’ve nothing to do? I’m very much part of the main drama. Would the story move forward if you remove my character?

‘Everywhere I go, I am swamped by compliments for the role. The length of the role didn’t matter. I’m just glad to be part of a historic happening,’ she said.

‘When Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir asked me to be part of their film, I jumped at it. I knew the film would be special because of Raju and Aamir, and I was right. As far as our cinema is concerned, Aamir is god.’

In fact, talks are on with two leading filmmakers including Mani Ratnam who is apparently set to revive his Aamir-Kareena project ‘Lajjo’. A.R. Rahman and Gulzar have even recorded the songs.

Looking back on last year Kareena feels happy by the response to her performances in ‘Kurbaan’ and ‘3 Idiots’.

‘Both films are very precious to me. ‘Kurbaan’ was intense, ‘3 Idiots’ was more fun. In 2009, I did films with all the Khans…. Salman, Aamir and Shah Rukh – I had a song with him in ‘Billu’ – and of course Saif.’

This time Kareena managed to ring in New Year with her family.

‘I’ve been running around frantically promoting my film. And then I was ailing for a week. I decided I had to be well for the festive season. Christmas was a very, very special occasion for my mom and sister. But we never get to be together for the occasion.

‘This time I was adamant. I made sure I took time off from work so all us girls could spend time together. My mom and I were here in Delhi to spend time with my sister and niece.

‘Karisma and I don’t get to spend that much time together. She has her home and husband in Delhi. My career takes me all over the place. Mom cribs we’re never together. This year-end reunion was something we had promised ourselves from long before,’ she said.

Maneesh Sharma, Associate Director of the Shahrukh Khan starrer Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, which created box office history for both Yash Raj Films and Shahrukh, has been entrusted with directing the next YRF project.

Produced by Aditya Chopra, the film will star newcomer Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma as the lead pair.

Ranveer, a complete fresher with no modelling or acting experience, was selected after his very first audition, having impressed Aditya Chopra instantly. On the other hand this will be Anushka Sharma’s third film with YRF after Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Parmeet Sethi’s directorial debut in which she stars alongside Shahid Kapoor.

The untitled film tells the story of two just out of Delhi University students, Shruti (Anushka Sharma) and Bittoo (Ranveer Singh) who reluctantly set out on their tumultuous entrepreneurial venture. Together their friendship and business enters the ups and downs of the lavish world of the glamour and glitz of Delhi baaraats and weddings!

Shooting of the film has just started and it is scheduled for release later in the year. Maneesh, who will be making his directorial debut with this project, has been with the Yash Raj Banner for many years and, apart from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, has also assisted on films such as Fanaa and Aaja Nachle.

When we had this interaction with Katrina, her co-star Ranbir was present too. If they fight like this constantly, how on earth did they shoot for the film together? “It was actually a 70-day film, but we took 100 days to finish, ’coz we spent thirty days laughing,” says Katrina.

She’s working with Ranbir in another film and has worked with Neil Nitin Mukesh in her last. Is there a plan? “To be honest, I was scared of working with newcomers before I was established. Maybe, I needed the guidance and support of a senior. Now I’m more comfortable, I’m doing De Dana Dan with Akshay and Rajneeti with Ranbir,” reveals Kat.

And is her prem kahani ajab or ghazab? “My prem kahani is adhura, incomplete. One can’t define one’s prem kahani until one comes to the end of it. The end is when you know that you don’t need to look any further from the person. That person should be the be all and end all.”

In a recent interview with DT, beau Salman said he’d let Katrina “work with anybody except one idiot – Vivek Oberoi” … Katrina says, “I understand, and I wouldn’t work with Vivek Oberoi. What he said and did with Salman was wrong. If somebody hasn’t done anything wrong, in my opinion, I’d still let them be colleagues with me. But what Vivek did was genuinely wrong. ” Salman also called shaadi a formality, does she agree? “Indeed. Shaadi toh ek din mein hoti hai na, uske baad toh the same thing happens. So you better be enjoying what’s before the shaadi. Don’t think shaadi is a solution. ’Coz after the two-three days of partying – wohi same zindagi hai jaise shaadi ke pehle thi,” expresses Katrina in her improved Hindi.

She’s the net’s most searched personality, and dating one of the sexiest men in the country. But she says that she was an unpopular teenager. “Guys never looked at me. I always had crushes on older seniors who never looked at me. So, when I tell directors that I wanna play that girl who gets rejected, they’re like, ‘Why?’ I tell them it’s because I relate to that girl much more than being the girl who makes jaws drop when she walks into a room.” Is she serious? “You have to understand, beauty differs from country to country. When I came to India, I found my sense of belonging and appreciation. People thought I was beautiful.”
